How sales tax works here

Saskatchewan charges two separate taxes: the 5% federal GST (CRA) and a 6% provincial PST. It's not an HST province, so the two aren't combined β€” PST has its own registration and its own list of taxable and exempt items, and it reaches a broader set of services than many people expect.

GST registration generally starts once taxable sales pass $30,000; PST follows Saskatchewan's own rules once you make taxable sales in the province.

FAQ

It can β€” Saskatchewan taxes a broader set of services than some provinces. The rules are specific, so check whether your particular service is taxable, or ask us.

Yes β€” GST with the CRA and PST with the Saskatchewan government, each filed on its own schedule.

Switch the calculator to "Take GST/HST out of a total" and enter the tax-included amount. It divides by one plus the combined rate to find the price before tax, then shows the tax on top.
