Bookkeeping for Small Business
Hand over the receipts, the bank feed and the shoebox. We keep your books current month to month, so year-end is a formality instead of a fire.
- You send documents once a month. That's your whole job
- Behind by months or years? We catch it up — no lecture
- You'll know what you owe before it's due, not after

Why owners hand this over
Your Sunday nights back
Nobody started a business to sort receipts at 11pm. That time is worth more spent selling.
You stop guessing
Hiring someone, taking a lease, buying a truck — you'll know what the business can carry before you sign.
The CRA letter stops being scary
When records are current, a review is a morning of work. When they're not, it's a month of it.
Someone actually answers
The most common complaint about accountants is silence. You get a reply in the same week you write.
What changes for you
- You send documents once a month — no daily fiddling with software
- We chase what's missing, instead of you remembering to send it
- You know your numbers before a decision, not eight months later
- GST filing stops being a weekend of reconstructing the quarter
- Year-end is already done when tax season starts
- Your accountant and your bookkeeper are the same people — nothing gets lost between them
Books in a mess? Start here
A year untouched, three years, a corporation that went quiet. Nobody here is going to make you feel bad about a shoebox — we just need to see what exists.
A shoebox is enough to start
Bank statements usually rebuild most of it. Missing receipts are a problem we have solved many times before.
You hear the price before the work
Catch-up is billed by the hour and we estimate it up front. No invoice that arrives bigger than you expected.
And then it stops happening
Once you are current, monthly bookkeeping keeps you there. The catch-up is a one-time event, not a habit.
Sound familiar?
- You are doing the books late at night, on a Sunday, again
- You do not open the CRA envelope the day it arrives
- You could not say right now whether last month was profitable
- Receipts live in the truck, a drawer, and three email folders
- Your last bookkeeper stopped replying and you never found out why
- You registered for GST and now there is a filing every quarter

FAQ
Not always. If you have a handful of transactions a month and a system that works, keep doing it. It usually starts paying off once GST filings, payroll or a corporation enter the picture — we will tell you honestly which side of that line you are on.
The common ones — QuickBooks, Xero, Wave, Sage. If you already have a file we pick it up as it is; you do not have to switch anything or learn a new system. If you are on spreadsheets, we will tell you honestly whether moving is worth it for a business your size.
Sending documents, and answering the occasional question. We chase what is missing rather than waiting for you to remember, and questions are batched instead of arriving one at a time.
No, and we are not being polite about it. Falling behind is usually a sign the business got busy, not that anyone was careless — we would rather see the real state of it than a version tidied up for us.
It depends on transaction volume, how many accounts there are, and whether GST and payroll are involved. Monthly work is quoted after a short look at your actual books; catch-up is billed hourly with an estimate before we begin.
No, and it is more common than you would think. We rebuild from bank statements, tell you what is missing, and get you current — then keep you there.
Yes. The office is in downtown Calgary and clients are welcome in person, but the work runs online across Canada. Documents come in by upload or email, and questions get answered by call or message.
Yes, and it is usually the point. When the same people keep your books and prepare the T2, year-end stops being a reconstruction project.
CRA requires records to be kept for six years from the end of the last tax year they relate to, unless CRA gives permission to destroy them earlier. In practice that means the year you would least like to reconstruct is still the year they can ask about — which is the whole argument for keeping it organised as you go.
Then you take it back. The file is yours, it stays in standard software, and we hand it over current rather than as a puzzle for the next person.
Let's look at your actual books
Bring what you have — a software login, a folder of statements, or nothing but a rough idea. Fifteen minutes is usually enough to tell you what the work involves.
Don't take our word for it
None of this is our interpretation. It is CRA's own wording — check it yourself:
- CRA — Keeping Records: "Keep your records for six years from the end of the last tax year they relate to"
- CRA — When to register for and start charging the GST/HST: the $30,000 small-supplier threshold
